Having brought into life important investments and works in the digital transformation as an ambitious player in the factory automation and advanced robot technologies in Turkey, Mitsubishi Electric gathered industrial stakeholders together at the Summit of Technology in Manufacturing-Engineering 1.0, organized by Automotive Engineering Association (OTOMDER), Mechatronics and Women Association (MEKADIN) and Digitalization and Industry 4.0 Association (Digit4Turkey). As a keynote speaker, Mr. Tolga Bizel, Senior Manager of Product Management and Marketing Department of Mitsubishi Electric Turkey Factory Automation Systems introduced the brand's next generation products and solutions boasting cutting-edge technology during his presentation "Age of Digital Factories and Robots" as part of the panel "Engineer Talks". Elaborating on the future of Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things (IoT) and robot technologies, Mr. Bizel highlighted that the building block of the digital transformation and new industrial revolution will be software and artificial intelligence and the need for the technologies will continue at an accelerating rate.

Organized by the Automotive Engineering Association (OTOMDER), Mechatronics and Women Association (MEKADIN) and Digitalization and Industry 4.0 Association (Digit4Turkey), Summit of Technology in Manufacturing-Engineering 1.0 brought industrial professionals, engineers, scholars and students together at the online platform. Delivering a talk at the "Engineer Talks" panel with his presentation "Age of Digital Factories and Robots" as part of the event, Mr. Tolga Bizel, Senior Manager of Product Management and Marketing Department of Mitsubishi Electric Turkey Factory Automation Systems shed light on the IoT (Internet of Things), AI (Artificial Intelligence, and the future of the robot technologies, advising the engineers of the future for their preparedness to the new industry phase.

In the future, there will be factories using AI-based manufacturing

Pointing out that digital transformation entered a new phase, robots have becoming rapidly widespread, and things in factories being done increasingly different than past, Mr. Tolga Bizel explained "The building blocks of the former industrial phases were electricity, machinery and automation. The building blocks of the next industrial phase will be software and artificial intelligence. Future will be shaped by the artificial intelligence technologies, and even today the place of the artificial intelligence in our daily lives has been growing enormously. The most popular applications of Artificial Intelligence, we are encountering in our daily lives, are Internet searches, PID loops, automatic pilot and vision recognition. Involved with the production, as well, Artificial Intelligence has a myriad of skills such as parameter settings, troubleshooting, assisted maintenance, as well as voice and face recognition. In the future, there will be factories based on the collaboratively working autonomous systems which has autonomous decision-making skills and free movement abilities, able to process the data inputs in real-time, all enhanced with Artificial Intelligence technologies. Driven by the future vision that robots will rapidly start playing bigger role in production, we, as Mitsubishi Electric, are developing next generation products and solutions in advanced robot technologies. Thanks to the next generation collaborative robots enhanced with Artificial Intelligence, we are enabling companies to set up their robotic systems faster, intuitively, cost effectively, responding resiliently to rapidly changing business settings and social needs. Therefore, it becomes possible to prevent unforeseen malfunctions and alert users in advance about the components potential source of failures. With power sensors, our robots do not paralyze the system and works faster compared to the conventional system; it outperforms itself as it continues learning."

Increased productivity in factories thanks to Maisart technology

Noting that they are using Mitsubishi Electric's proprietary AI trademark "Maisart" technology in order to enable companies derive maximum benefit out of the Artificial Intelligence, Mr. Bizel concluded: "We are using a technology we coined as Maisart in order for using artificial intelligence algorithms at every layers of the factory so as not to escalate an incident up to the cloud. Being an acronym of Mitsubishi Electric’s AI creates the State-of-the-ART in technology, Maisart significantly lowers the downtime in Artificial Intelligence-based factories and plants while boosting the productivity. Employing machine learning algorithm, this technology analyses sensor data, followed by a model creation to switch among different operational conditions. We succeeded in improving the artificial intelligence algorithms so that we can process them across all layers of a factory. We are expanding our investments in this area at an accelerating rate."
